Pack 91 Membership is Growing!

September 1, 2006 the Los Padres Council Newsletter acknowledged Pack 91, chartered to the American Legion Post # 534 for a very successful night of recruiting new Cub Scouts. Pack 91 recruited 17 new boys and their families into Cub Scouting. This year the membership of Pack 91 has gone from less than 20 Cub Scouts to over 70 Cub Scouts. Angela Awadallah, Cubmaster, Joe Hughes, assistant Cubmaster and Regina Knapp, Committee Chairman are all doing an excellent job of providing their Cub Scouts an exciting Scouting program. It is the quality program of Pack 91 that binds these Cub Scouts and their families to the pack.

The Purposes of Cub Scouting

Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. It is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth grade (or 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Currently, Cub Scouting is the largest of the BSA's three membership divisions. (The others are Boy Scouting and Venturing.)

The 10 purposes of Cub Scouting are:

Character Development
Spiritual Growth
Good Citizenship
Sportsmanship and Fitness
Family Understanding
Respectful Relationships
Personal Achievement
Friendly Service
Fun and Adventure
Preparation for Boy Scouts
